Tree Service FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Tree Service in New Jersey

How much does tree removal cost in New Jersey?

Most residential removals fall between $800 and $3,500 depending on the tree's size, location, and how close it is to the house, fences, or power lines. Large or technical removals — crane work, trees over structures — run higher. Every job is different, which is why we give free, no-pressure estimates: call (973) 570-1103 and we'll walk the property with you.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Every estimate is free with no obligation. We'll come out, look at the trees, and give you a straight answer on what each one needs and what it costs. Call or text (973) 570-1103.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. New Jersey Treeman is a NJ Licensed Tree Care Operator (#1067), Rob is an ISA Certified Arborist (NJ-1304A), and we carry $1M+ in general liability coverage plus commercial auto on our trucks. We'll provide a certificate of insurance on request.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Somerset, Morris, and Hunterdon counties, including Bedminster, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Far Hills, Peapack-Gladstone, Chester, Mendham, Long Valley, Califon, Clinton, Tewksbury, Readington, Branchburg, Montgomery, Hopewell, and Pennington.

Can you remove a tree that's close to my house?

Yes — that's most of what we do. We use rigging, sectional takedowns, and crane-assisted removals to bring trees down safely next to homes, barns, fences, pools, and landscaping without damage.

Do you grind stumps?

Yes. We grind stumps below grade so you can replant, reseed, or reclaim the area. Surface cleanup and removal of grindings can be included — just ask when you get your estimate.

When is the best time to prune trees?

Late fall through winter — the dormant season — is best for most trees: no leaves means better visibility, cuts heal cleanly in spring, and there's less stress on the tree. Spring-flowering trees are the exception; those get pruned right after they bloom. Dead, damaged, or hazardous limbs should come off any time of year.

Do you handle storm damage?

Yes. We do emergency storm cleanup — downed trees, broken limbs, trees on structures. Call (973) 570-1103 and we'll get out as fast as the schedule allows.

Will you clean up when the job is done?

Yes. We rake, blow off, and haul away the debris so the property looks like we were never there. Full cleanup is part of every job unless you ask us to leave firewood-length logs behind.

How do I know if a tree needs to come down?

Warning signs include large dead sections, trunk cracks or cavities, fungus growing on the bark, a sudden lean, root damage, or limbs dropping regularly. If you're unsure, that's exactly what a free estimate visit is for — we'll give you an honest assessment, including when a tree is fine to leave alone.

Do you trim trees near power lines?

We prune trees around residential service drops (the line to your house). Lines running pole-to-pole along the street belong to the utility company — only they or their contractors can work near those, and we'll tell you who to call.

How fast can you come out for an estimate?

Usually within a few days, faster for storm damage or hazardous situations. Call or text (973) 570-1103 and we'll find a time that works.
